  1. Does ParaClock run on a network?

Yes,  ParaClock is a multi-user application and is designed to run on a local area network. You can install ParaClock on as many workstations as you need at no additional cost. Multiple employees can punch the clock from any PC on the network simultaneously.

  2. How do we configure ParaClock to run on a network?

Follow the steps below:

  1. Install ParaClock on one PC.
  2. Start ParaClock by double-clicking the ParaClock Shortcut on the desktop.
  3. Click on the "Database" button at the bottom of the Main Menu
  4. In the Manage Database dialog click on the "Move Database" button and move the database to a shared folder on a server or workstation.
  5. Installing ParaClock on additional workstations: On each additional workstation, (after installing) start  ParaClock and click on the "Database" button at the bottom of the Main Menu.
  6. In the Manage Database dialog click on the "Open File" button and browse to  the database on the server or workstation. (This is located in the shared folder you moved the database to in step 4.)
  7. Select the database and then click on the "Open" button.
  3. What database does ParaClock use?

ParaClock use a Microsoft Access database. The database name is ParaClock.pcs. This is a Microsoft Access mdb file with the extension changed to pcs. To open the database within Access simply double-click on the file and select to open using Microsoft Access.

  4. Are employees able to edit or manipulate there punches?

No, not if you have enabled the security feature of ParaClock.

To prevent unauthorized access to the Main Menu, go to the users tab in the security menu and check "Require User Login On Startup". Be sure and enter users and passwords for user(s) that should be authorized for access to the Main Menu.

  5. Can we prevent employees from manipulating the computer clock?

When ParaClock is used on a network the time is synchronized with the server (the PC where the database resides) each time the clock is punched.

On Windows 2000/XP machines you can disable access to the computer's date and time by setting an appropriate group policy.

  7. Can punch records be adjusted or added/deleted manually?

Yes. This is done by using the "Employee Punch Maintenance" screen. This screen will allow any authorized user to edit, void or add punches both for employees and also for jobs.

  8. What are the system requirements for ParaClock?

ParaClock will run on any windows PC with Window 98 or later operating system and at least 32 MB or ram.
